Why timing and place decide what your collection is worth
Buylist prices move constantly, and different stores pay different amounts for the same card. One that fetches $4 this week might be $7 next month after a tournament result or a reprint scare, then back to $4, and the best store to sell it to can change too. Sell on a random day at whichever store you happened to pick and you usually catch the low. How do I know when to sell a Magic card?
TCGSentry compares the best current buylist across the stores we track to where that card normally sits and the highs it tends to reach. When the live price is at or near that high, it marks the card as a sell and alerts you. Below that, it tells you to hold and watches for you.
Do you compare buylists to selling on TCGplayer or ManaPool?
Yes. For every card we check the buylist payout against what you would clear listing it yourself on a marketplace after fees. When a buylist wins, we flag it, so you get more cash without the shipping and the wait.
Where does the pricing come from?
From the public buylist feeds of the stores we track (CardKingdom and Star City Games), plus marketplace prices (TCGplayer, ManaPool) net of fees, updated continuously. We always show you the best.
Can I choose which stores my alerts watch?
Yes. By default an alert watches every buylist we track, including any we add later, so you never miss the store that happens to pay most on the day. If you only ever sell to one of them, switch the others off on that card and we will only tell you about the one you care about.
